Weddings in Surrey Winter Tweet-Up
Two days have passed since the Weddings in Surrey Tweet-Up in association with Wedding Ideas Magazine took place at Fetcham Park House owned by Parallel Venues, which was such an amazing evening that it rendered me almost speechless (and that doesn't happen very often!). The Tweet Up came about almost by chance. A couple of months ago, Laura Caudery - Director of Parallel Venues, sent me a tweet introducing Fetcham Park as a brand new wedding and events venue, launching at the end of October 2011. Coincidentally I had just begun my search for a venue to host the second wedding suppliers networking event this year.
I had already approached a couple of new-ish venues to ask if they would be intererested in hosting an evening where in excess of 130 wedding suppliers would have the chance to view their venue, and was making a shortlist when Fetcham Park popped up. I hastily arranged a meeting with Laura and the plan was hatched. We would create a second launch party for Fetcham Park to showcase this beautiful venue to the elite of Surrey's wedding suppliers and readers of Wedding Ideas.
It turned out to be an incredible evening and an amazing experience. 160 of Surrey's (and beyond) signed up to come along - in fact we were full within 5 days of announcing the event. An enormous effort went into creating a showcase for Fetcham Park, and to entertain our guests who had come from far and wide. There was no dress code, but it soon became clear that everyone was in the party mood and "glam and gorgeous" was going to be the theme.
The Shell Room antics overlooked by the cherub on the ceiling, showcased by Miss Bush Bridal, Fairynuff Flowers and Naughty but Yummy was out of this world -theme of Stars and Metallic lent an elegance to murals by Louis Laguerre, that looked out on to the fountains and ponds of the gardens.
Welcoming the guests with a glass of champagne by Les Caves de Pyrene, the beautiful canapes of At Home and the sultry sounds of Mark Millington saxophonist helped everyone to mix and mingle, even if they didn't know each other. Lots of "oohs" and "no way" could be heard as Magic Ian performed stunning tricks and Adam Brand amazed guests analysing their handwriting.
